on-line classes
Thank you everyone, for your kind words and interest in learning photoshop. I wanted to answer all the questions that I'm getting, and say YES.... I would love to do it. I just need some time to figure it all out. Since I work on a Mac, and use CS3, I need to do some research on including PC based users as well as Elements. I may create the PS class as a pdf tutorial that can be downloaded, and would include screens shots and step by step project instructions. Also included would be photos used in the project so you can follow along exactly without the need to find the right images first.
It will be a post processing photoshop class showing how to create exciting compositions from ordinary snap shots, and will be a stand alone class, but will also work with the online book class that I'm planning.
What do you think? Sound like something you might be interested in?
I've taken a couple weeks off (other than hours and hours of photoshop and photo shoots :-) and am gearing up to get back into books and working on these classes soon.

Oh DJ, I am so excited to hear that you want to find a way to help us all to achieve your "look". I have photoshop elements. I've been playing around with my photos with the help of Susan Tuttles workshop. The more I learn the more I want to learn more. Thanks for taking the time to show us the before and afters.

Oh, I can't wait! Any and every workshop you can put together for those of us who cannot travel to your classes would be SO APPRECIATED. I'm especially interested in all the work you do to make the collages for your books, but to also learn how to make such amazing images to use. Wow!

Dj, I'd be very interested in a workshop, and hope you'll include Photoshop Elements.
Having taken a similar online class, I found that what I missed was a clear understanding of why the instructor was doing the things she did. In other words, simply telling the student to, for example, move the saturation slider to x number, doesn't address the issue of why one would choose that option to begin with, and what you're trying to achieve by moving the slider to that number.
The former instructions simply teach the student to parrot the teacher; the latter helps them to understand the broader concepts, which allows them to make decisions on their on on future projects.

Waving hand frantically! Yes! Definitely interested in any form that you'd like to teach in. Wish I had a Mac. That'll be my next computer. Just can't justify that expense right now when my PC is still going strong. So, if you're keeping track of who has what, I have PS 7. :o)
YES PLEASE!!! Would love online class on photoshop techniques, and book class. I have done three photoshop classes at adult education colleges here in London, but none were from the perspective of artists. I use CS2 on a PC. Love your collages and books and love how you've creatively combined textiles, paint, and computer technology in your work. It's the best of all worlds!
